What Colour Scrubs Do Different Nurses Wear?

If you’re starting a new job, or heading into a new sector of nursing then it’s probably important that you know what colour scrubs you should be wearing and which Scrub Lab shade will be the best option for you. Now, the colour that each department wears can absolutely vary for each individual hospital and state so the best option is to check in with your hospital about the colour and if there are approved brands you need to purchase from.

It’s important that different levels/categories of nurses wear their unique colour to make sure that everyone, both staff and patient, are able to clearly and easily identify the staff and each staff members unique (and, of course important) role in patient care.

Registered Nurses:

Typically registered nurses will wear navy scrubs to show that they are leaders in their field. In some hospitals it is also common for registered nurses to wear teal scrubs. At Scrub Lab we sell a full range of scrubs in both of these colours, which you can shop here!

Enrolled Nurses/Nursing Assistants:

In most healthcare workplaces in Australia an enrolled nurse or nursing assistant will typically be wearing scrubs that are either light blue (ceil), or sometimes teal. These light blue scrubs (or teal scrubs) represent the beginning of your amazing journey and career that is to come. Once again, both of these colours are a part of our core scrub collection!

Midwives:

Typically in a hospital you will find a midwife wearing purple scrubs. This could be a range of shades depending on the state/hospital but is often an eggplant colour. We have our aubergine scrubs as part of our limited edition colour range, and also have our lavender haze scrubs which are a much lighter colour.

Medical Emergency Team (MET):

The MET are typically wearing red scrubs, which is the perfect colour to represent their job where they are typically responding to internal emergencies and these vibrant scrubs ensure they are easy to spot. At Scrub Lab the best option for you, as a member of the MET is our rouge red scrubs or our maroon scrubs depending on your particular hospitals requirements.
